How can we get from rags to riches online? Just when you think that everything is working, when you think that you are beginning to learn about the ins and outs of online business, when you think you can start earning online, you get a slap in the face. A wake up call if you must. The more appropriate term would be a nightmare that will enter your otherwise good start.

Yes i’m talking about the biggest problem of any person earning through their site. Whether or not they are selling something or just want to make their presence known to the world. All website owners know that their online venture is only as good as the uptime of their sites. No site = No income. That goes for bloggers too since No site = No blogposts.

Three days ago, my friend Erol told me that my posts were not loading. He said he can get to the main site but he can’t get into the posts after clicking the post title. He was going to read my last post about fake testimonials in affiliate products but it won’t open. I was able to fix that problem. I thought my worries were over but the next day, my whole site was down. I was getting a message Error connecting to Database. ARGH! Talk about bad luck! I didn’t do anything. I didn’t change anything. I double checked my username, password and database name. Nada. Zip. Nothing. I found no problem. Another ARGH!

So i sent a ticket reporting the issue, waited for a day and now my site is back up. Rafi was saying we should just change hosts since we’re still within the money-back-guarantee program of Dreamhost. I said i’m going to give it another try. So what was the problem? I opted for the Dreamhost private server and it seems they moved my credentials to the private server but my database was still on the previous shared server. Oh well everyone makes mistakes. Let’s just see what happens in the future.

In the mean time, at least we’re here on track again. Our journey about earning online and getting from rags to riches is back in business.
