Yes i know this is a very very old topic. What to blog about. How to blog about it. Steps in making money online. Yada yada etc etc. I’ve read many articles about how to blog and what to blog about. I may not be an internet guru nor am i a very experienced blogger, but i do know what i should be blogging about. I may eat my words in the future but right now i very much believe in my own list.

1) Choose a topic that you are comfortable with.

Contrary to many blogs that keep urging you to pick a niche that many people check out, i think it should be the other way around. Choose a topic that you are comfortable with even if that is not the niche where most people go. Why? Because if you are comfortable with the topic, then researching for new content would be something you would look forward to and not something that would feel like a chore to you just to create articles for your site.

In this blog, we’re choosing to blog about our online journey from rags to riches. What steps we’re taking for making money online and at the same time about our own thoughts about our own lives.

2) Tap the mother niche of your topic

For example you want to blog about your favorite online game. Then tap the mother niche and that would be online gaming in general. Why? Because mother niches always have many traffic and to get even some part of that traffic, you will also need to blog about it. The good thing about this is when you are bored blogging about the mother niche or you simply can’t think of anything to blog about it, you can always go back to the topic you like best, your favorite online game.

3) Talk about related topics

Talking about your favorite topic blog in and blog out would burn you out. So one thing that would make people sit up and take notice is if you talk about topics related to your niche. Hey maybe you can even blog about not so near topics and find how it relates to your niche. Hehehe. That would be fun.

4) Research, research and more research

Hey you can’t just go pick a topic and write stuffs about it without actually researching something about it. Blogging about a certain topic requires knowledge in that topic area. We need to continuously learn and hone our knowledge and skills to write good articles that are worth reading about.

We’ve decided that our blog will show our online (and some offline) experiences, research and the constant learning. This is after all our chosen niche. The learning experience itself.

5) Make and earn money online

There are many ways on how to earn online. Be it the ads that appear in your site, your affiliate links on the products that you endorse and even your own products. If you don’t know where to start, then the list of the most trusted ad networks below may start you in the right direction.

• Chitika eMinimalls! – Mini online stores
• Kontera – Your blog’s text advertising
• Clickbank – The bad part is, some countries (including mine) are not allowed here. Other options would be Commission Junction (CJ), Paydotcom, and countless others. This is an affiliate program where you can sell your product or sell other people’s products for a certain commission.

In this pattern i am showing that we should start with our own chosen niche that we already have good knowledge about than picking a niche just because people make money out of it. In one hand, the internet market gurus may be on to something when they say we should choose a niche that has fewer competitors and has many people who are searching to get to the first few pages in the search engines. On the other hand, the internet is a very very large business platform where anyone can be big players eventually especially if you are really good in what you do and how you present your stuffs.
