trying to earn money online faster by plagiarism“Don’t worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you’ll have to ram them down people’s throats.” – Howard Aiken

As I was returning EC drops to other sites that visited mine, i chanced upon this certain site that somehow has a very familiar image. Then i got into reading the said post. Deja’vu because the words were almost at the tip of my tongue back then. What do you know? The whole post was copied from this rags to riches online own blog post about using entrecard credits when you hold contests. How about that?

I got irritated. Ok ok calm down. He probably gave you a link back to give credit to your post. That’s what I initially thought. I clicked on the post title… I checked in my trackbacks… I looked for any sign his site could be just a compilation of articles from different sites. Nothing. Nada. None. ARGH!

Ok so imitation is the best form of flattery right? Am I supposed to be flattered? I made a comment that the site owner should not plagiarize my post.  He said he’s sorry. He liked my blog post so he copied it. Or i think that’s what this means.

I am sorry you post a copy, because I was interested in the article.

I thought he would now give credit where it is due. Guess not.

So to all bloggers out there who don’t have any idea if your post is being copied by someone else, go to copyscape.com and check your links. Who knows if someone else made duplicate articles of your post? Your post will certainly not hold water in Google’s SERP if that happens.

Goodluck!

if I’m not mistaken, there’s also a way to protect your ownership by using copyscape. Don’t have the details, thou.. coz never tried it. But I think it’s a good start if you need a hint ;)

Scraping isn’t cool – even when they DO give credit. However, when they don’t -it’s positively maddening!

One of the nice things about blogging is that when someone steals a single post – they really are just stealing a single gemstone from a collection. What makes your blog successful is the COLLECTION of great posts. Stealing just one means that any readers the thief’s blog will be disappointed when more don’t follow. If he scrapes – as you pointed out – he won’t get any juice from the search engines.

Stealing content is a short term solution to a long term problem. Eventually, the search engines will penalize you but readers will figure it out long before that happens.

@jane, no problem. ^_^ glad to know you like my post.

    @andecks, thanks for dropping by.

@make money blog, the problem is if search engines penalize me, the traffic engines would send in would be reduced. that will hurt.

Unfortunately plagiarism is rife on the internet, particularly amongst blogs.

    oh, no “edit comment”..

I starting to like your posts by the way…

I was searching for internet speeds in the Philippines, and I ended up here http://alhana.wordpress.com/2007/09/05/whats-your-fastest-internet-speed/

on the right I saw a friendster link then followed it. The shout-out links here. Is that site I mentioned yours?

    Also LOL… I’m dissapointed with my self…

I’m an artist, before I became good with sketching, I copy from others first to get experience. Now I can draw originals without copying.

Now I’m a blogger. I just started this January. Since Im a newbie, Is it OK too base my articles from existing ones? And of course, I always link to the source. I always try making my originals, but “copying” gives me more experience just like when I was starting to learn how to sketch…

yups that’s mine but as you can see dun sa date mejo matagal na since nag update ako dun. ^_^

it’s ok to base your articles from others especially if these “others” are specialists in their fields but don’t forget to link back or give them credit.
